Interview with Cara Bristol – Cyborgs!

I am so excited to have Cara Bristol visiting me today. Not only is she a USA Today bestselling author, she is also one of my favorites from several genres.  Her latest science fiction just released, and man is it awesome!  I love her cyborgs, and couldn’t wait to get some more info about them, and the worlds she has created. Here’s Cara Bristol. 🙂

******

Cy-Ops series

Thank you, Katherine for your questions about cyborgs. I think you asked some things that people were dying to know, but were afraid to ask.

What is a cyborg?

A cyborg is a human being who has been scientifically enhanced with mechanical and/or computerized parts. Think of the Six Million Dollar Man. In science fiction romance a cyborg generally has a computer chip in his human brain that gives him extra abilities. Some authors play up the machine part of their cyborgs; others, like myself, emphasize their humanness. Besides the extra brain power, they are exceptionally well built.

What is the difference between an android and a cyborg?

I’m glad you asked! First, let’s define what a robot is: is a machine that can react to its environment. For example, the Roomba vacuum cleaner robot “knows” to go around an obstacle. An ordinary vacuum can’t do that. An android is a robot that looks human. It is not living, not organic. It’s 100 percent machine. A cyborg is a human being with some computerized parts. But since androids look human, you may not be able to tell the difference. In fact, in book 2 of the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series, Mated with the Cyborg, hero Kai Andros goes undercover pretending to be an android.

If you could “build” your own cyborg, what famous personality would he look most like?

I think Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would make a perfect cyborg. I will say that male models on the covers of my cyborg books resemble my characters as I envisioned them.

Can cyborg males produce offspring?

Yes, because cyborgs are human beings.

How do they keep from impregnating females? Is it a switch they turn on and off?

Nanocytes, tiny robotic cells help build up muscle and speed healing in cyborgs. They can also be used to switch off sperm production, which I actually mention in Mated with the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance 2)

If so, can they also “enlargen” at will? 😉

Lol, good question. But, the answer is no. The attraction to the heroine takes care of that. J However…often the hero doesn’t want to be attracted to the heroine because it complicates his life, so he employs his nanocytes to cool things down. Usually that doesn’t work—because the attraction is so strong.

In the last two books, both cyborgs “surprised” their female counterparts with what they were. How would you react if you found out the person closest to you was a cyborg?

Lol, since I write fiction, I’d be very surprised science had advanced that far, and I didn’t know about it. I think it would be cool though, and a great thing for humankind. It could solve a lot of problems for wounded servicemen and women. One reason my heroines were surprised that their hero was a cyborg is because in the Cy-Ops series the cyborgs work for a clandestine paramilitary organization. They’re undercover spies. They operate outside the law, and what they do is top secret. That’s why they don’t tell heroine who they are and what they do. In Captured by the Cyborg, heroine Illumina figures it out on her own early on. She’s a sharp cookie!

Have you ever thought of doing a female cyborg for one of your stories?

Maybe I already have…*whistles*. No spoilers. I am considering a male/female cyborg team for a future book.

If you could visit any place you have described in one of your stories, where would you go?

Two places. First, the Darius 4 Pleasure resort described in the Cy-Ops series. I think that would be so cool. Second, I would love to visit the Rod and Cane Society mansion.

Captured by the Cyborg (Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance 3) Description

Sometimes the biggest risk is to one’s heart….

An ex-Cyber Operations field agent, Dale Homme has kissed danger and betrayal more times than he cares to count. Now he runs a clandestine factory beneath the surface of the moon Deceptio, where confidentiality and security matter more than anything. When a beautiful young woman arrives seeking a job, Dale knows within minutes she’s lying. Everything about her is false: her past, the people she claims to know, her reason for being on Deceptio. Illumina Smith? Even her name is an alias.

Logic says send her packing. His gut says she’s in trouble. She needs him. So he’ll do anything to keep her safe….even if it means keeping her captive.

Captured by the Cyborg is third in the Cy-Ops Sci-fi Romance series but is written to be read as a stand-alone novella.

An Excerpt from Captured by the Cyborg

Dale slapped his knees. “Here’s what’s going to happen. First, to put your mind at rest, let me assure you that Alonio is no threat to me. I’m a cyborg. Keeping people safe is what I do. He might succeed in drawing a little blood, but I’ll wipe up the mess with his ass. Second, while I doubt he can gain access to Deceptio, as a precaution, I’ll amp up security.”

“About that…” She had to tell him how she’d changed the entry protocol. He wouldn’t like that she’d gone behind his back. “I need to tell you…”

He held up his hand. “Let me finish. Third, you are not going anywhere. You’re staying right here where I can protect you.”

The autocratic edict set her teeth on edge. “You can’t keep me here!” She hadn’t fought so hard for her freedom and safety only to be dictated to by another man, however well intentioned. She was nobody’s captive!

“Yes, I can.”

Let him try! “As you’ve realized,” she said, “I’m a master sensate. A computer system doesn’t exist that I can’t infiltrate. I can hijack one of your spaceships and be gone before you realize there was a breach. Your entry and exit protocols, for instance—”

He leaned in until his breath caressed her ear, and he whispered, “Did your orientation tour happen to include a visit to the brig?”

He was threatening to lock her up? She jerked away and rounded on him. “What are you saying?”

“Moonbeam’s isolation can cause people to go a little crazy. We haven’t had anyone snap yet, but the possibility exists. You could be the first ward of the Deceptio jail.”

“I can access computer-controlled doors, too!” She crossed her arms.

He laughed. “You and half the employees on Deceptio—which is why they’re not computer controlled.” From his pocket he pulled out a metal ring and dangled some odd-shaped jagged objects. “Good old-fashioned locks and keys. The best antiques money can buy.”

She leaped off the bench. “You’d imprison me?”

Character interview with Blade Vengeance- rebel warrior, spanker

Ok, I am super excited about Renee Rose’s latest release! I got to read it ahead of time, and it is so HOT! So hot, in fact, when Renee asked me if I wanted to interview her main character (super stud, warrior from a different planet!), I got a little giddy with excitement. I mean, come on, the dude is huge, and yummy, and yes, he spanks. Of course, I said “yes”. Here’s the interview 🙂

Katherine Deane:  <Tucks hair behind ear. She has been nervously awaiting the arrival of Blade Vengeance all day> Um, hi, Blade. <steps back when the huge warrior enters her office> Whoa, they don’t grow, ‘em that big in Kansas anymore, do they?

Blade Vengeance: <Lifts an eyebrow before sitting down> Katherine.

Katherine Deane:  Right, a man of few words. I remember that from the book. Tall, dark, sexy, and spanks… Did I miss anything crucial?

Blade Vengeance:  <Says nothing, just looks at Katherine with his dark eyes>

Katherine Deane: You know, this interview would go a lot easier if you would open up a little. <Tries out her best spy impersonation along with an invisible mustache twirl> Mwuahahah, I have vays of making you talk.

Blade Vengeance: <Picks up the ruler on her desk and slaps it into his palm> I have ways of making you squeal

Katherine Deane:  <Chokes on her coffee> Okay, forget my attempt at witty banter. Please, let’s just start with something easy.  <Shuffles her papers, looks down at her notes> What was it like to be around a woman from Earth? I mean, Dr. Lara Simmons was different from what you were used to, right?

Blade Vengeance: <Smiles at the mention of his new wife> Yes. Different and the same. More layers, I think. She was feisty and independent, which I found sexy as hell. And of course, I knew even before I met her about her impressive professional credentials. What I didn’t expect, though, was to find a responsible submissive under all of that.

Katherine Deane:  <Excited that he is finally opening up>  Was Dr. Simmons hard to unpeel?

Blade Vengeance: <With a twist of his lips> I like your metaphor. You’re an author, too, aren’t you?

Katherine Deane:  Uh, yes, sir.

Blade Vengeance:  <Smiles even bigger>  And a submissive.

Katherine Deane:  Was that a question or a statement?

Blade Vengeance:  Statement. I can read it all over you. But back to your question–yes, Lara presented a whole host of complexities. Women obviously aren’t spanked on Earth anymore, but on my planet, we reverted to primitive gender roles in our “back to nature” settlements. So for me, it just came naturally to discipline her when she put her life at danger. Of course, she found it completely shocking.

Katherine Deane:  She must have found it shocking at first. You don’t just haul a woman over your lap, where I come from. Well, except in my dreams. <laughs as she remembers one of her kinkier Tarzan / Jane dreams from the other night> You do have a uncivilized Tarzan like feel to you. It’s yummy. Did Lara get used to your, um, ways?  Or did she civilize you?

Blade Vengeance:  <Snorting> I’m afraid she didn’t civilize me. But my little doctor discovered she had a submissive side, so once she accepted that part of herself, our sex life became explosive and the discipline holds more appeal for her.

Katherine Deane:  Explosive sex sounds good to me, but then I’ve always loved discipline…  <Straightens up, red faced> Sorry, this is about you.  So, using as many descriptive words as you can, tell me what can readers expect when they read the story about how the two of you became man and wife.

Blade Vengeance:  Action. Sex. Spanking. New hope for a planet at war.

Katherine Deane:  Right. A man of few words after all.  Well, thank you so much for coming today. <Blade stands up and she jumps to her feet and unconsciously shifts backwards, craning her neck up to look at him>

Blade Vengeance:  <Covers heart with fist and bows. Leaves her office>

Katherine Deane:  <Practically swoons at the sight of him filling out his uniform>  Mmm, a race of men that spank their women, and give them life altering mega-gasmic sex? Sign me up for the next airship.

hand of vengeance

The Hand of Vengeance

On a humanitarian mission to the war-torn planet Jesel, Dr. Lara Simmons is used to dealing with lack of supplies, power outages and the constant earthquakes that afflict the planet. But when she’s captured by the rebels who need her to perform a life-saving surgery, she finds herself in a situation her medical training didn’t prepare her for.

When the airship is blown out of the sky, she ends up in the Jeselian wilderness with no one to rely on but Blade Vengeance, an enormous tattooed rebel warrior. Dominant and unyielding, he doesn’t hesitate to take her in hand when she disobeys the rules he lays out for her. Yet she soon learns he also knows how to deliver pleasure–with a passion she’s never before experienced.

Blade finds the doctor from Earth sexy as hell, especially when she’s giving him attitude, but once he delivers her to headquarters, he tries to pull back from her allure. Known for single-handedly starting the revolution and freeing many of his people, his life is one of hardship, slavery and war. Going soft on a woman isn’t part of his plan, especially with the final strike of the revolution so close. But when he sends Lara back to Earth to keep her safe during the upcoming battle, he inadvertently delivers her into enemy hands. Can he find and save her from the revolution he caused?

Publishers Note: This story contains spanking and explicit sex scenes, including anal penetration. If such subject matter offends, do not buy this book.

Lucky Leprechauns, Sexy Euphemisms, and Dirty Truck Talk – a real interview with Aubrey Cara

Aubrey Cara’s in the hot seat.  We are having a good old fashioned, fun, slightly inappropriate at times, interview about her brand new book, Taming Kat. 😉 It all started when I read the scene where Caleb nicknamed Kat’s most private part, his lucky leprechaun…

Katherine Deane: So Aubrey, let’s get down to business.

The leprechaun- Lucky little bastard that hoards gold or the red headed stepchild of the hoohah?

Aubrey Cara: Did you just say red headed stepchild of the hoohah?

Katherine Deane: Inquiring minds want to know.

Aubrey Cara: I um…well–

Katherine Deane: And in all fairness, why didn’t Caleb get a nickname?

Aubrey Cara: Caleb or his penis?

Katherine Deane: His penis

Aubrey Cara: hooha, penis fly trap, and leprechaun weren’t enough horrible euphemisms in one book?

Katherine Deane: I’ll see your hoohah, penis fly trap, and leprechaun, and raise you a spam javelin, womb ferret, and a Just-in Beaver.

Aubrey Cara: Just-in Beaver? That is brilliantly horrifying. I, um—I suppose I’ll see your spam javelin, womb ferret, and Just-in Beaver and raise you a liquid gold miner, Texas Momba, bald-headed yogurt slinger.

Katherine Deane: Bwhahaha, Okay, okay, enough with the penis talk already. You  distracted me so much, I don’t know what I wanted to ask next! So let’s move on to the issue of the truck. So…. Caleb giving Kat his truck for a few days. That’s a pretty big step for a dude, especially, a Texan, right? You know in some cultures, they would be considered legally married at this point.

Aubrey Cara: It’s true. The Right Of The Truck, or TROFT for short, has resulted in numerous unwitting marriages. I’m hoping to spread awareness. Also, circling a barn with a man, especially a rancher, can and will lead to pregnancy. A rancher’s sperm, much like their truck, tend to ‘get the job done’. If you know what I mean.

Katherine Deane: aaaand now we are back to penis talk again. Seriously, how big is Caleb’s stroker kit?

Aubrey Cara: <holds hands up to an impressive, if not intimidating width>

Katherine Deane: I bet he reeeeeeally knows how to use the ol’ Master / Slave Cylinder. Hehe, has Kat ever blown his tranny?

Aubrey Cara: More than once, and in great detail.

Katherine Deane: Um, okay I was trying to talk about truck euphemisms, and you completely discomfuddled me. How about we talk about safewords?

Aubrey Cara: Do I need a safeword?

Katherine Deane: No, I’d like to be serious for a minute, and stop jawing about peni’s. (Penis’s? What the heck is the plural form of penis , anyway?) Why did Kat safeword during their talk? They had the miscommunication, he had already loaned her his truck for Gawd’s sake. Didn’t she trust him to safely discuss her feelings?

Aubrey Cara: Poor girl had no idea she’d already taken a big step by driving the man’s truck. 🙂 At the moment she safewords having any type of discussion would have been too exposing. She was feeling broken and vulnerable. Caleb is 100% Dom, but he always respects a sub’s prerogative to safeword. Kat (unfortunately for her poor posterior) uses this against him, the silly girl.

Safewording out of a convo with a man that has a penchant for spanking you is never a good idea. Saying you’re sorry often involves a sore bottom.

Katherine Deane: I totally get that.

Aubrey Cara: A sore bottom?

Katherine Deane: Mmmm, yeah, sore bottoms are lovely. What were we talking about again?

Aubrey Cara: Safewords It’s important to be with a man that you know will respect your safeword.

Katherine Deane: Ohhh, like if he chooses Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in pig latin? Probably not a good sign, eh?

Aubrey Cara: That is a good indicator you’re with a man that is not going to respect your safeword. Also, if he doesn’t ask you for one, and then when you tell him yours he shrugs, and utters a noncommittal, “Okay,” or “Baby, safewords are lame,” or “That’s nice”. That’s never a good sign.

Katherine Deane: Ooh, ooh, ooh, I got a good one! If your guys says your safe word is “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” hehe

Aubrey Cara: After you’re tied he’s suddenly all, “Me no hablo ingles”.

Katherine Deane: Como se’, WTF?!

Aubrey Cara: <snorts> Definitely a bad sign!!

Katherine Deane: Well, I totally enjoyed talking about Caleb and Kat; penis’s; spankings; and the worst safe words in the history of D/s

Aubrey Cara: I’m forever grateful no one had to cry Fluggaenkoecchicebolsen during the course of this interview.

Katherine Deane: in pig latin!

Aubrey Cara: (LOL)

Katherine Deane: So, what’s next? Mimi seems like she should get her own story.

Aubrey Cara: Yes, Mimi and Mason, who both play small roles in Taming Kat will be getting their own book. It’s due out early spring. (I’m revising right now)

Katherine Deane: Jackpot!! That means we can have another interview! (rubs hands together and inserts an evil Muwahahaha)

Aubrey Cara: I will be brushing up on my euphemisms, so come prepared.

Katherine Deane: Challenge accepted, worthy adversary of peni puns.  Thanks again for chatting with me 😉

Aubrey Cara: Thank you for having me!!

Excerpt:

He whipped her towel off. She squeaked as he set her ass on the edge of the counter, splaying her thighs wide. He could already see the moisture at her apex. “I love your cute little pussy.” He reached down to spread her wetness over her opening, thrusting his fingers inside to watch her head fall back on a moan. “All smooth, but for a little fluff on top. I love the little tuft of red hair at the top, like it’s my own little leprechaun. I get lucky every time I rub it.” He could feel her muscles clamp down and squeeze his fingers as he worked them inside her.

“You did not,” she panted, “Just.. call..my pussy… a fucking lepreahhh—” The rest of what she would have said cut off as he leaned down to take her clit in his mouth, sucking it in before gently biting down. He was rewarded with her shriek. Her hands pulled his hair as her channeled spasmed on his fingers. Her honey poured over his hand as she came.

Taming-Kat-Big

Blurb:

Moving halfway across the country to work part-time at a ranch had been a rash decision on Yankee, city girl Kat Martin’s part. She understood that. She had just needed to get away from her pesky mom and older sister telling her what she should be doing with her life. She had no idea her bold move was going to put her in daily close proximity to her one and only one-night stand, Caleb McCrae.

Kat may not know what she wants to do with her life but she does know she needs to stay well away from sexy neanderthal Caleb, who had strutted into her life and ripped her pants off.

Caleb is officially done with military life and is ready to settle down. He’s bought a stake in the ranch he grew up working at and is building a beautiful house. Now all he has to do is wrangle the one that got away. Kat Martin has been haunting his thoughts and steaming up his dreams ever since she skipped out on him after one of the hottest nights of his life. She may be giving him the cold shoulder now, but he knows just how to heat her up.

Warning: Contains one crystal ball reading mama, one gal with commitment issues and a sassy mouth, and one cowboy that believes his belt was meant for more than holding up his pants.

PK Corey spills it all!

I am so excited to have PK over today, for an actual REAL interview! I don’t get to do these very often, so I had a real treat by getting to talk so intimately with her. Now, I’ll be honest. The reason I wanted to interview PK (besides the fact that she is a really nice woman, and I like her 🙂 ), is because of how pleasantly surprised by her book, Cassie’s Conflicts.

I thought I would have nothing in common with the MC (Cassie is not your typical 20-30 year old main character). I hoped I would like the book. But I was wrong.

I LOVED the book, and adored everything about the spunky woman and her fun life. I knew right then I absolutely HAD to interview PK Corey.

So here you go.

Enjoy 🙂

Katherine Deane: Thanks so much for talking with me, PK. So let’s get down to business.

Why an older couple? What appealed to you to go against the norm, and average ages of 20-30 somethings?

PK Corey: I want Cassie’s stories to let everyone know that love and passion are not the sole property of the young. Love and passion grows and changes with age. I didn’t begin writing until I was nearly fifty, I knew the love of a long time commitment and that was what I wanted to explore. Many of us who have always longed for a loving spanking relationship want it to last a lifetime, so let’s explore what’s in the far distance for most of us. The excitement of erotic spanking, as well as discipline doesn’t have to stop as we leave our thirties. I feel that Cassie and Tom give us hope as to what could be.

Katherine Deane: Is this story based on any personal experiences?

PK Corey: It really isn’t. Cassie wandered into my head when I was eleven years old. She was forty then. She began telling me her stories. I never knew why my imaginary friend was thirty years older than me and I never knew why my imaginary friend never left. But now I hope she doesn’t.

Katherine Deane: Do you use any of your life in your writing?

PK Corey: My parents traveled a great deal and I’ve used some of the stories I’ve heard about their travels, with my own spin included of course. I also attended many conventions with my parents, at least once a year since I could remember, until my early-twenties. The ladies activities, the cocktail parties, the dinner and dancing I remember from those days. I do remember several older couples I love to watch dance.

Another thing I got from my life is Tom’s ideas on manners and how a lady should act. These ideas come from my sweet mother. I didn’t always agree with her views, though I wore my white gloves to church as a child, but I knew her idea of proper and I let it bloom it Tom.

Katherine Deane: Was there a public service message in your minor character who was a beloved, sweet young homosexual man? And did any of this come from personal experience?

PK Corey: Yes, this was my reality. My son told me he was gay when he was about the same age as Drew, my son had just turned fourteen. Although he’s not huge like Drew, or athletic, he was accepted and loved by his teachers and friends. He and his boyfriend married about a year ago and someday Drew will too.

Katherine Deane: This really makes me happy, PK. Thank you for sharing that. 🙂

What appeals to you most about Cassie?

PK Corey: I admire her fearlessness, and her total and consuming love and devotion to Tom and her friends.

Katherine Deane: I loved that too! I think that is why I connected so well with her.

How much longer will you continue with this series?

PK Corey: Now there is the question! How long will people want to continue reading her? I have roughly five more books. There are really good stories to come and I really want to tell them. But I also want to branch out and prove I’m hot a one hit wonder – mostly I want to prove it to myself. I know I’ll eventually do the books that are already sketched out, but I don’t know how long I should take. I’m trying to find a balance between not having my readers grow tired of her and on the other hand not forgetting her.

Katherine Deane: What’s the oldest you think Cassie will become before her stories are concluded?

PK Corey: This is my favorite question. There is a book/story in my mind that I’m going to write someday even if I never publish it. It’s years in the future – both Cassie and Tom are in there nineties. It’s obviously a closing book so it could just be for me, but at the same time there are a couple of secrets that come out in that last story that would be interesting to those who truly love Cassie. One secret I’ve known about for a long time, the other I just discovered and it was a bit of a shock. I guess I’ll decide about this book later.

Katherine Deane: I know that’s going to be exciting! So, what comes next?

PK Corey: If I can ever retire and possible get my thoughts organized, there are other characters running around in my head that I would like to explore. I really like the Corbin’s Bend Series and I’d love to write a book for it too.

Katherine Deane: Do you have a favorite scene you’d like to share?

PK Corey: My favorite scene/situation is long, but I’m giving you part of it here. Cassie can get aggravated with Tom, but usually she’s not that mad. This time, she’s truly angry. I liked this scene but I’m most intrigued by the one that comes shortly after it. The scene that follows this one popped into my head one day in great, graphic detail. I had no idea what had happened to arrive at that situation and I had no idea what would happen next. But the scene stayed with me and nearly two years later I got to learn the details.

Excerpt

Tom, who had barely spoken to me during dinner, turned to the couple on his left and announced, “I think we’ll be headed back to the hotel soon. Cassie’s been a little under the weather.”

As far as I was concerned, the fight was on! “THAT’S IT!” I shouted loud enough to attract the attention of several tables as I slammed my hand down. Lowering my voice only slightly I continued, “Cassie has not been under the weather in the least. If Cassie had been feeling under the weather, I would have been one of the first to know. If you think I’m too old and decrepit to come to these functions, why don’t you just put me in the home and be done with it. You can go back to the hotel alone if you want to, I don’t give a damn – I’m staying here.” I grabbed Sue’s drink and downed it in one gulp and then left the table so fast none of the stunned men had time to rise.

I was so mad I didn’t know what to do with myself. I headed to the bar to order another drink. I scanned the crowd until I spotted several old friends and asked one to dance. I stayed on the dance floor nearly thirty minutes. Tom was still at the table. His face was dark with anger, but he made no move to come to me. I tried not to look his way, but it seemed impossible. I kept glancing his way regardless of my intent. He never took his eyes off me. Finally I couldn’t take it any longer and I headed to the ladies room.

I sat in the little lounge area and closed my eyes. I kept them closed as women moved in and out. I don’t know how long I sat that way, but when I finally opened them, Sue and Annie were sitting across from me.

“What?” I snapped.

Sue cocked her head and looked at me. “I was just wondering if you had a charity you wanted us to contribute to in lieu of flowers.”

“He is going to kill me, isn’t he? What has he said?”

“The man hasn’t spoken a word since you left the table,” Annie said anxiously. She looked upset. I closed my eyes again. This was bad. “Please come back and talk to him.”

I was in more turmoil than you can imagine. I was still angry to the core, but I felt horrible. I knew I was going to have to face him eventually. Leaving the powder room, I looked over at our table.

Tom was gone.

I felt like I’d been punched in the stomach. I couldn’t breathe. I was the hot headed one, I’d run out on Tom more times than I cared to remember, but never in all our years together had Tom walked out on me. Although my anger hadn’t defused, the hurt was overwhelming.

********

PK Corey: Katherine I’ve so enjoyed answering your questions. I’m sure some young readers are hesitant to grab up a story where someone their grandma’s age is being spanked, but I just want them to give it a try. I hope everyone will just try one Cassie story and then decide if they more.

Katherine Deane: Thanks so much for your openness, PK, and for letting me ask some not so typical questions. I really enjoyed Cassie and her story, and look forward to reading more about her. And I can’t wait to see what else you have in mind for branching out. Hugs!

Bared by the Billionaire – by Kallista Dane

I love a good spanking scene. It just makes me all warm and tingly. 🙂

Kallista Dane is visiting me today, with a warm, tingly spanking excerpt from her new book, Bared by The Billionaire, and is going to tell us a little bit about herself.

Enjoy!

Displaying Bared Cover-kd.jpg

Bared by the Billionaire is my newest erotic romance.  I had a great time telling the story of Kyra Thornton and her initiation into the dark world of BDSM by sexy scientist/inventor and Dom Jake Harmon.  He’s got some surprises for Kyra, including wild sex/tech toys he invented that he’ll use on her as he introduce her to his domination.

Excerpt:

“Take off the rest of your clothes.”

Her cheeks flushed but she did as she was told, trembling a little, eyes downcast the entire time.

She dropped the bra and her hands moved to the nipple rings.

“Not those,” he said.

He saw the look of dismay on her face, but she never protested. She bent forward to unhook

the garters. Slipping off her shoes and balancing on one foot, then the other, she peeled the

stockings off. Finally she reached behind her and unhooked the lace garter belt, letting it fall to

the floor. He let her stand there for a moment under the bright lights of the lab, naked, and just

stared. Her body was beautiful. Full, lush breasts, narrow waist, hips that flared out.

“Come here and lie across my lap.” As she walked toward him, the portions of her brain that

registered fear and anxiety responded strongly. But so did the center for arousal. She put one

knee on the sofa, awkwardly supporting her weight with her hands as she draped herself across

his lap.

Her body was warm and soft and when she let her full weight rest on him, he felt his own body

respond. Without thinking, he stroked her bare ass and ground himself up against her, just a

little. Harmon didn’t need a machine to tell the instant she felt his cock pressing up, hard and

ready. Her sharp intake of breath did that.

Grabbing her wrists with one hand and holding them out in front of her, he smacked her bottom

sharply with the flat of his palm. The computer screen exploded in lights. He started spanking

her steadily, firm but not too hard at first, watching with clinical detachment as her lovely bottom

turned pink.

He spanked harder and it took on a darker shade of red. As it did, her pain centers on the

monitor glowed brighter and brighter. Her fingers dug into the fabric of the sofa but she never

moved or made a sound.

He wanted more, wanted to see what she’d do once he broke her tight control. He shifted his

legs a little and spanked her slowly, sensuously, rubbing the hard bulge in his pants back and

forth across her wet slit with every whack. A soft moan escaped her lips. The sensors recorded

a huge spike in endorphins. The pleasure centers of her brain were sending off fireworks.

Harmon smiled to himself.

“Get down on your knees in front of me,” he demanded, letting go of her wrists.

Blurb:

Kyra Thornton is in serious trouble. Her former boss has disappeared after stealing every dime

from the company’s trust account and framing her for the theft, so when the FBI offers her a way

to prove her innocence and escape prosecution, she hesitantly agrees. All she has to do is go

undercover, take a job working for billionaire technology entrepreneur Jake Harmon, and find

evidence to prove the FBI’s claims that he masterminded the crime.

There’s just one catch: Jake is a Dom, and he’s looking for someone who can be both a

financial officer for his company and the perfect sub for him. Kyra has never been a sub—

or wished to be one—but under the circumstances she is left with little choice, and she soon

finds herself stripped bare and on her knees awaiting Jake’s every command. To make matters

worse, her new master quickly proves more than ready to punish any disobedience with a long,

hard, deeply humiliating spanking.

But to Kyra’s shock, Jake’s firm-handed dominance and skillful mastery of her body leaves her

not only blushing with shame and aroused far beyond anything she’s ever experienced before,

it also leaves her yearning for more. It isn’t long before she feels a growing need to submit both

her body and her heart to the dark, mysterious billionaire. But when the time comes to fulfill the

bargain that kept her out of prison, can she trust Jake to protect her, or will she cast aside her

newfound love to save herself?

Publisher’s Note: Bared by the Billionaire is an erotic romance novel that includes spanking,

sexual scenes, BDSM, anal play, exhibitionism, elements of medical play, and more. If such

material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Questions for Kallista:

  1. Do you think today’s modern woman still enjoys reading about women being sexually dominated?  Do you think women secretly long for this?

Yes and absolutely yes.  All you need to do is look at the explosion of

stories out there about spanking and domination.  Not all of us, mind you, but I think many strong women are aching to find an even stronger man who will be kind and loving, but firm at times.

The human race has been around for millennia and our feminine DNA is still hard-wired to be drawn to the Alpha male who will jump up after sex to protect the cave or hunt down a mammoth for dinner while we’re lying back and purring in satisfaction.

2.  Are you working on a new book right now?

I’m doing a reverse time-travel about a young woman from the 1800’s who is transported to current times.  She’s discovered by a hot Special Forces commander.

I wouldn’t have considered a time travel romance novel but it was hard to come up with a woman in her twenties nowadays who is still a virgin to be my heroine!

Kallista’s Bio

Like my ancestor Scheherezade, I cannot sing or paint or dance.  I have but one talent – I am a weaver of words.

As a little girl I was scared to take risks.  As a woman, I’ve walked on the Great Wall of China, scuba dived in underwater caves, and skied a black diamond run in Vail.  But the greatest risk I’ve taken is putting my naughtiest secret fantasies in print.

I love to tell stories of strong women and the even stronger men who suddenly show up in their lives when they expect it least and need it most.

Author Share – Formula Writing

Hey friends,

I know I have been a bit remiss with the Author Share posts lately. Sorry. 🙂

But when Patricia Green agreed to explain formula writing to me, I had to jump on this!

Please comment below. I would love to hear your experience, either from the writing or reading side. 🙂

Ok, let’s talk about Formula Writing.

Author Share black letters

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Katherine Deane: Thanks for joining me today, Patricia. I have heard a few publishers and authors mention this term before. What is formula writing?

Patricia Green: “Formula” is about taking tried-and-true tropes and gluing them together with certain plots, in order to fulfill reader expectations. Tropes are often-recurring scenarios pertaining to specific types of genre fiction. Spanking romance has certain tropes, romance in general has certain tropes (see here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RomanceNovelTropes and here: http://allthetropes.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Romance_Novel_Tropes for lists), westerns have tropes, as do mysteries, and suspense/thriller stories.

Katherine Deane: Can you give an example of what this could look like in spanking fiction?

Patricia Green: Applied to spanking romance, you take one of the tropes given above, and add a bratty heroine, a dominant guy who isn’t afraid to assert his authority by spanking, and you’re ready to rock ‘n roll.

Katherine Deane: Why does formula writing work?

Patricia Green: Formula writing works because it meets reader expectations. Whether a reader realizes it or not, when she picks up a book in a specific genre, she’s expecting certain things to happen. Here’s a good list of what ought to happen in a romance novel: http://howtowriteshop.loridevoti.com/2012/07/five-scenes-every-romance-novel-needs/ If your intention is to hook a regular romance reader (of any subgenre, including spanking romance), you want to use a plot that basically goes like this:

  1. The meeting
  2. The conflict
  3. The attraction which overwhelms the conflict
  4. Conflicting emotions which leads to a dark moment
  5. Resolution and HEA

Katherine Deane: That explains why my editors and publisher sometimes give me suggestions that differ from my original plan. (Like a very dark scene they suggested I tone down a bit. Best suggestion ever. I think my readers would have been very emotionally drained if I had not edited that scene.)

Katherine Deane: When does it NOT work?

Patricia Green: If you’re writing literary fiction, you have no formula. It’s a free-for-all, and once again, that meets reader expectations. If you’re writing any kind of genre fiction, though, writing to formula will get you more publisher interest, more positive reader reviews, and a greater likelihood of success. That is not to say that you cannot be a maverick, but to do so means you are taking a chance that readers will be disappointed. Writing contrary to formula is a risky business.

Katherine Deane: Is all spanking romance formulaic?

Patricia Green: We’d all like to think that we’re writing something new and different, something no one has ever done before. And, in terms of our heroes and heroines and their adventures, we might very well be presenting something unique. However, if you want to fall into any genre fiction category (which is the majority of fiction, these days), you will be using the formula for that genre. That’s what readers are looking for, and what you, as an author need to provide. There are so many tropes, so many things you can do with a formulaic plot, however, that you don’t need to feel constrained. Your hero and heroine are unique, with unique methods of dealing with their conflicts and emotions. That’s what makes your work special and what captures the attention of avid readers – readers who often don’t even realize they are hooked on formula.

Katherine Deane: I can attest, from the reader side, Patricia. I like the stability usually, and don’t like to be surprised. However, there are the occasional stories that push me, emotionally. And I have enjoyed them. But I might not have read them if I had just looked at the tags. (I can totally see an Author Share about tagging coming soon! )

Thanks so much for sharing with us.

*****

Patricia Green’s latest book is Rescued by the Spy. It’s a f/M/f sci fi spy adventure, with a whole lot of sexy parts. (I actually was confused by the acronym, because I usually read M/f. Here’s how Patricia explained it for me)

f/M/f (note the capitalized M in there) means two submissive females and one dominant male, but the females do not engage each other sexually (the reason they are bookends to the M)

I loved this book! It definitely pushed my comfort zone boundaries a bit, but I am so glad I read it. It was amazing, and oh, so sexy!

Meet Brand New Spanking Author – Corinne Alexander!

I have my good friend, and brand new author (her first book is releasing today!), Corinne Alexander visiting !

Corinne Alexander: Hi Katherine! Thanks for having my on your blog today! As my best friend there is no place I would rather be on the day of my very first book release!

Katherine Deane: All right, let’s take a vote. who is more excited about your new release – your FIRST EVER published book!??? Me or you? 🙂

Corinne Alexander: *Laughs* That’s a hard one! You have definitely been one of my biggest cheerleaders. I tend to be in the background mellowing and there you are poking, prodding, and cheering me into motion, “Come on, get out there! You can do it! Go, Fight, Win!” BUT then we had an unexpected third contender enter the race. I think the winner might just be my Mom! I came out to her last year about writing spanking romance and then accidentally shared my Winter Spanks story on my real life facebook page. Now mind you it was at two o’clock in the morning and it was only up for ten minutes before I realized what had happened, but that was long enough for my Mom to happen upon it and delightedly devour my story and several others on the hop. Considering that she’s not into this kink herself, she was over the moon about my story and has been calling or texting me every few days to squeal with delight about my upcoming release!

Katherine Deane: LOL, Okay, I think your mom wins this one!

So, what was your favorite part of writing this story? Or what stands out to you as that defining moment when this story became real.

Corinne Alexander: There were two moments in the writing process that are favorites and really stand out. The first is when the characters came to me in the first place. We were on a road trip to my son’s soccer tournament and they just appeared out of nowhere and started talking to me. Yes, I really do hear voices in my head! Their faces and backgrounds appeared in my mind like I asked them to tell me a little about themselves and they did! First Violet, then Everleigh, and Charles came next.

The next was when the story finally started gelling together and all of the snippets and scenes started to make sense and join the others. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

Katherine Deane: What was the most difficult part about writing this story?

Corinne Alexander: Learning to balance my family life with my author life. We had some major bumps in the road during the time I was writing A Brush of Violet. I had to put my pen down for awhile to deal, but what I’ve learned is that the story didn’t go anywhere in the meantime. It was right there when I was ready and able to pick that pen up again.

Katherine Deane: I’m so glad you made it through everything, and kept going with the story. 🙂

What is the biggest thing you learned from this process?

Corinne Alexander: How much I have left to learn! I’m actually really excited about learning too. There are things that you can never really learn just by taking a class or reading a book. You have to get that hands on learning experience and writing this book was exactly that for me.

Katherine Deane:  Okay, you already know how much I loved Violet and Charles.  What’s next? Who gets the next HEA? or spanking? or both? 😉

Corinne Alexander: First of all I have to say you are in luck! The fantastic Maggie Ryan will be writing Ever & Robert’s story in Season Three of Corbin’s Bend! I was ecstatic when I found out!

As far as I go, I’m getting ready to submit an outline for my next Corbin’s Bend project that I hope will be accepted for Season Three. My MC, Melissa, makes her small debut in A Brush of Violet in a brief scene in which she appears before the Discipline Board.

Aside from Corbin’s Bend the project I am really excited about is the one that we have in the works. I won’t give much away to the audience since it’s still in the super secret stages, but it’s a story line near and dear to my heart and I’m sure that everyone is going to love it!

Katherine Deane: I can’t wait! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!

Congratulations, Author! ❤

Corinne Alexander: Thank you, Katherine! I had so much fun!

Synopsis

High powered business woman, Violet Walker, has long left her artistic days behind. That is until her best friend, Everleigh Harris, invites her to Corbin’s Bend for an art festival. What Everleigh doesn’t know is that Violet hasn’t been able to paint a single brush stroke since turning her back on her submissive desires and spanking needs in college. When she meets charismatic and drop dead gorgeous Charles her world is turned completely upside down. Will Violet, overworked, burnt out, and in denial of her deepest wants and desires, be able to surrender when love knocks on her door?

Charles Robinson, President of the discipline Board in Corbin’s Bend and longtime resident, adores the community he lives in and the freedom it provides for all who live there. Raised in a traditional family; love and discipline are a way of life for him. There’s nothing he wants more than a marriage just like his parents where spanking and romance go hand in hand, even if that means holding out for true love. Is Violet just the kind of woman he’s looking for?

Will Violet risk the life she’s built for herself in blood, sweat, and tears for the undeniable connection she has with Charles, the utter bliss and contentment she feels when she’s over his lap? Can Charles convince Violet she really can have it all? Will this trip be just what she needs to rekindle all that she has lost since joining the corporate world?

Corinne Alexander is an erotic spanking romance writer who loves nothing more than to snuggle up with a cup of coffee, a warm blanket, and a steaming hot erotic romance. She enjoys strong alphas, feisty heroines, and a good old fashioned spanking romance. A Brush of Violet (Corbin’s Bend) is her debut novella.  Corinne’s favorite kind of day is when she can slip away into nature to get lost in her daydreams, spinning her fantasies, with the forest floor under her feet, the wind rustling through her hair, and sunbeams kissing her face.
