Maryse Dawson visits!

My first experience with reading spanking fiction online, was on an awesome website called Discipline and Desire. Holy cow, I read for hours, every night, having all of my spanko buttons pushed by these lovely short stories. I had several favorites I always went back to. Maren, Nattie Jones, and Maryse were a few of them.

Well, I just found out the Maryse from Discipline and Desire is the Maryse Dawson, now publishing with Blushing! Jackpot! I can’t wait to share her with you!

(Oh, and if you ever want to check out that really cool website with lots of different stories to get you all heated up, check out the link.  🙂  http://www.disciplineanddesire.com/

EXCERPT:

Arabella looked down at the ring on her finger in a daze. She was now Lady Arabella of Terryn.

“My lady, I wouldst ask thee to bid thy father farewell, for we depart to Terryn within the hour,” said John, seated at the dais next to her.

Her face fell. “Today? Thou wouldst leave today, but I thought we would abide here for a few days at least?”

“Nay, wife. We leave for Terryn today. I will not dally.”

The word ‘wife’ sounded strange. “But I do not wish to leave so soon!” she protested.

“I care not. As my wife thou will do as I bid.”

Arabella stared at him. He was so curt and abrupt. To be parted from her father so soon was unthinkable. It would not harm him to stay a few more days. She set her face mulishly. “I will not go today!”

“Do you defy me?” His tone was sharp and a shiver of fear slipped down her spine.

She raised her chin and snapped. “Aye. I wouldst not part from my father this early, there are words I wish to say to him and I will not be hurried!”

He leaned sideways towards her and placed his mouth by her ear. “Thou art my property now and I expect thy full obedience. Thou will be ready within the hour or I will punish thee soundly for defiance.”

He leaned back and raised his goblet to her, taking a full swig of her father’s wine. She realized her mouth was hanging open. No one, apart from her father, had ever spoken to her in such a harsh tone, and she was more than a little shocked. Her father had married her to a barbarian! Without saying another word, she left the dais and stalked from the hall.

——————————————————————————————–

Half an hour later, Arabella was still stomping around her chamber, getting more and more incensed with her new husband’s attitude. Wherefore didst he think he could treat her so? His property indeed! He had even threatened to punish her. What sort of husband had her father found for her? So what if he had wealth and lands. He could not treat her like this!

Mary entered her chamber carrying two large valises. “Lord John instructed me to bring these, my lady. He said to pack thy clothes as he wishes to leave shortly.”

“Oh, did he? Well he can think again!” She picked one of the cases up and stormed from the room, throwing it straight down the stone staircase. She went back for the other and was just about to launch it down the same stairs when Lord John came into view. He glared up at her, fixing her with such a dark look that she stopped immediately. Quickly, she ran back into her chamber, threw the case on the floor and slammed the door.

Mary looked at her in fright. “What is it, my lady?”

“Lord John doth come!”

Mary clapped a hand over her mouth and with eyes as big as saucers looked at the door latch as it began to lift. “My lady!”

Arabella tried with all her strength to keep the door from opening, but Lord John pushed it open with ease. He looked at Mary. “Leave us!”

She scampered out of the room and Arabella quickly went to run past her husband, but his hand snaked out and grabbed her. Slamming the door with one hand, he dragged her towards the bed.

“Thou thinketh to thwart me, wife, and ruin my plans. ‘Twill not happen!” He sat down and threw her over his lap. She struggled and kicked out but to no avail. She felt a cold draught as her skirts were thrown over her back and his hand quickly descended on both buttocks.

She shrieked and bucked to get away, but he was far too strong for her. He held her with ease and laid into her backside again and again.

“Thou willst not defy me! When I make a demand I expect it to be followed, dost thou understand?”

Smack! Smack! Smack!

“Aaaaoooow!” she wailed. “Take thy hands off me!”

“Nay, wife. Thou art mine and I will see thee brought to heel.”

Smack! Smack! Smack!

Oh, Lord. It hurt like the very devil. She winced as his iron-like hand touched her sit spots, blistering her bottom with heavy-handed swats. God’s bones, if this was how marriage to Lord John was going to be…she wished with all her heart to escape it.

When her bottom was well and truly on fire, he stopped and let her scramble up from his lap. She stood in front of him and hopped from foot to foot as she rubbed furiously at her skin to try and relieve the pain.

“Thou will be ready to leave within the next half hour or I will drag thee kicking and screaming without any baggage at all!” He stood up and with a warning glare left her alone to pack.

Medieval Spankings and Sex- just how kinky were these people?

conquered brides collection

I have Korey Mae Johnson with me today for a fun interview about the brand new medieval box set she wrote with Renee Rose, Sue Lyndon, Ashe Barker and Dinah McLeod. Would you like to know what spankings were like back in medieval days? How about kinky sex? Surely it was just a white sheet with a hole in it, right? NOT! Join us for an informative interview. 🙂

Welcome, Korey Mae!

Korey Mae Johnson: First of all, thanks so very much for having me on your blog, Katherine. I’m so excited to be here. It’s also gonna be really fun to talk about my new medieval spanking story collection set, Conquered Brides, which I wrote along with four other awesome authors: Renee Rose, Sue Lyndon, Ashe Barker, and Dinah McLeod. All these women are amazing and their talent really raises the bar. I was excited for an opportunity to join their project, and I can’t believe it’s out already! Time certainly flew by fast!

Katherine Deane: Who came up with the idea of sacking a castle and marrying off the individual women?

Korey Mae Johnson: James (my husband) and I thought of it while we were in Europe, when we were touring Germany. We visited Hohenzollern castle and, after touring the newly discovered underground passages and falling in love with the history and the majesty of its position on a hill, we put our heads together and thought up the idea. Afterwards, we asked the wonderful Renee Rose to spearhead the project, put it together and became its fearless leader, keeping us in line. 🙂 Conquered Brides is different than many box sets because it’s not just in one location, but it’s plot is driven by a huge event (the castle being seized) which sets everyone in motion, Because of that there’s a lot of interweaving between the books. They could be read separately by anyone, but reading it as a group would really be the most fun, I think.

Katherine Deane: What’s the most fun about writing a Medieval piece?

Korey Mae Johnson: The medieval version of chivalry is a hoot to write–dexterity in fighting, valor, courtesy, pride. And it’s not the same type you find in romance novels from any other time period. It’s more primal, more serious, more life and death. There’s a lot of men protecting women in life and death scenarios more often, and there’s sort of a rougher, less polite quality about it. It’s a little darker, more barbaric and viking like than more modern romances.

 Katherine Deane: Least favorite?

Korey Mae Johnson: Well, with that darkness I was talking about, there’s also a lot of violence and flat-out dirtiness (although I did learn that bathing in Medieval times was popular as were public baths. It wasn’t until the black plague that they stopped doing it frequently, but that was in the mid 1400s). Unsanitary conditions that we have to be careful to admit to but not glory and revel in, to make it realistic but still keep it hot. Honestly, I think if we got blasted back to the late 1200s we probably wouldn’t make it–we’d probably black out the first time we saw a medieval “gardrobe”. Also, we had to be very, very careful about the language we used, the foods our characters ate, etc. It was certainly a different time that wasn’t very much like our own in a lots of ways.

Katherine Deane: What were some of the spanking implements used in those times?

Korey Mae Johnson: There aren’t a whole lot of differences between then and now. I mean, obviously spatulas are out because they weren’t invented yet, BUT there have been references to domestic discipline, namely whippings, thrashings, and spankings leading back to the ancient Egyptians. The birch was already popular for schoolmasters and tutors to carry in the middle ages, and royalty did already frequently imply whipping boys & girls (normally their whipping boys & girls were from a noble family, and normally they were playmates of the future heir to the throne leading to special privileges later in life). Rods were commonly used, switches, and martinets, and of course over-the-knee spankings have been recorded as far back as Roman times. And the list goes on.

birching in olden times   floggin in olden times

Katherine Deane: Have any of you tried out any of “said” implements?

Korey Mae Johnson: I’ve never tried a birch. My husband can make a brilliant one, but so far I’ve never been brave enough to try it. Other than that… yep. Tried them all. Thanks to spanking parties, because James doesn’t use martinets or whips.

Katherine Deane: If you could be one of the characters from the box set, which one would you be, and why?

Korey Mae Johnson: I don’t think I could say and explain without giving the my book away, but in short I’d be Princess Susanna, and I’ll let my readers guess why. 🙂

Katherine Deane: Do you like Monty Python? 😉

Korey Mae Johnson: Hell yeah I do–and the naughty, naughty Zoot. Because she can really start a party!

Katherine Deane: Mmm, Naughty Zoot. hehe. I love that scene 🙂

After beta’ing  one of these fantastic stories, I know all about the sexy stuff that happens behind castle doors. Was sex really like this in these time periods, or do the authors use some artistic license to add to the appeal?

Korey Mae Johnson: Medieval times were, and  I’m quoting here, “Nasty, brutish, and short.” So I’m assuming the sex had to often be absolutely awesome to make up for it. That and they had a ton of it. The average woman had 12 children in her lifetime…. so it had to have been at least just as frequent. That’s what I’d like to believe, anyway. 🙂 Most historians that I’ve read say that, despite arranged marriages of the nobility and later marriages of the lower classes, people were screwing each other like rabbits compared to even our time. And they got around–did you know there were holy ordained brothels? Supposedly it was regarded as fact that if there weren’t a boatload of brothels in town that soldiers and other men would just rape whoever. So they made it happen. I need to read more into it, but the research so far has always been just amazing or shocking.

Thanks again, Katherine!

Katherine Deane: Thanks for chatting with me, and congratulations on the new set! I am already reading it, and am absolutely loving it! 🙂
